And in the Annex Room:

José Lopes

Compromised

"Can Opener", oil on canvas

Opening Night Reception: Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 7-10 pm

Avenue 50 Studio is proud to present José Lopes' first one man show with us. "COMPROMISED" is a dynamic look into the sport of wrestling from an outsider's fascination with the various wrestling positions, names of positions, and the contradictions of these elements in this hyper-masculine sport. Double entendres fly as fast as a Naked Choke.

"I paint as a response to an internal drive, an urgency, a sense or duty to the world and to myself. I paint in an effort to gain that edge the insane have over the rational man. My work is the result of constant exploration and improvisation. . . ."
--Jose Lopes

Jose studied art at Los Angeles City College and later at El Camino College. At El Camino he received an award for “outstanding academic achievement in the field of art.” Jose’s work hangs on the walls of numerous collectors throughout California and the world.
