Persist is a collection of essays addressing the predicament of the artist (read: writer, painter, sculptor, musician, actor, dancer . . .) in a cultural climate in which celebrity and money too often count for more than talent and quality. Yet artists of all kinds have to “do it”—if only because that’s who they are. The book encourages artists to “persist” despite the familiar obstacles, with practical suggestions and strategies for building a consistently rewarding practice.

“The first and ultimate survival guide for any creative person . . . This book will heal your soul and help you find your way. All artists should keep it close at hand.”

—Roland Reiss, Professor Emeritus, Claremont Graduate University
