The Avenue 50 Studio presents an evening screening of "Seven Beauties"  starting at 7:00 pm in our Main Gallery.  Current exhibiting artist Poli Marichal will introduce the film.

"Seven Beauties" aka "Pasqualino Seven Beauties" by firebrand Italian film writer and director Lina WertmŸller’s never ceases to shock, move and surprise us, even though most of her best known works, “The Seduction of Mimi”, “Love and Anarchy”, “Swept Away” and “Seven Beauties” were all produced in the ‘70’s. Her very personal sense of storytelling, characterized by biting satire and stunning visuals, portrayed a world where characters were shaken to the bone by sexual, social and political situations.   No one escapes unscathed from a WertmŸller film and she likes it like that.   When JosŽ Lozano invited me to talk about this formidable woman and introduce her film as part of the exhibition, "Seven Beauties", which he curated, I jumped at the opportunity to revisit her work.  Great films transcend time and place and WertmŸller’s work belongs in that league."
